There are all sorts of occasions that call for a banquet, or the opportunity to gather colleagues, friends or family together to eat together, with a room to yourselves rather than sharing your news with other diners in a restaurant. This is where private dining comes into it's own.
Whatever your event, we'd love to host your function here at Imperial Hotel. We're renowned for our superb customer service, and also for the speed and efficiency with which we can serve a large room full of people with a delicious hot meal.

Under current government guidelines, large-scale banqueting and private dining is not permitted. But we can still plan for the future with hope! We'd love to talk to you about your event or occasion.
From Monday 12 April, up to 15 people can attend a sit-down reception, baby shower, anniversary or birthday meal, or wedding breakfast in our outdoor dining area on The Terrace. And from Monday 17 May, up to 30 people can attend a reception or wedding breakfast in an indoor setting.
From 21 June 2021, the government anticipates removing all social restrictions, and so much larger scale receptions, events and celebrations should be able to go ahead. We'd love to help you host your event, there is so much celebrating we all need to catch up on!

Banqueting and Private Dining
Whatever the reason for your function, we'd love to help you with your event.
Whether it's a birthday party or wedding anniverary, a christening or a wake, we can cater for up to 180 people for an informal buffet style occasion. If you'd like a formal, seated meal, we can cater for up to 140 people in our splendid Victoria Suite which overlooks the sea, or for up to 90 people in the Sandown Suite with its large windows, bar area and view towards the town. Smaller rooms which seat 4 to 28 guests are also available for more intimate dinners with friends, family or colleagues.
A variety of table formations are available - some banqueting events or private dining functions call for one long table down the centre of the room. Others work better with smaller tables. We'll be happy to advise when we talk through your ideas for your event.
The Sandown Suite, with its lounge bar, dance floor, air conditioning and a separate entrance from our car park, is perfect for receptions, celebrations and large wakes with space for entertainment if required. Our smaller function rooms are ideal for baby showers when maybe an afternoon tea might be just the thing to have on the menu, or for formal lunches with colleagues to celebrate a retirement or a promotion.
You can choose your own function menu by choosing one dish from each course in our Imperial Selection. And if you want to widen your menu we would be delighted to discuss your thoughts. In addition to our selection, we offer thirteen standard banqueting menus. Allergies or dietary requirements can happily be catered for, please call us on 01493 842000.
We have a comprehensive wine list and would be pleased to help you choose wines and aperitifs. We can also help with other arrangements such as table planning, table decorations, floral arrangements or bouquets for example. We also have microphones, lecterns and large screens if needed.
