The Imperial Hotel
80 Years Celebration Dinner
|All monies raised has been donated to Prostate Cancer & Gorleston RNLI|
The Mobbs family have owned and run the Imperial Hotel since the 1930's. It was originally run by the grandfather Campbell Lindsay. Then Roger & Jill Mobbs took over running the business. Nick joined straight from University as Manager whilst Roger ran the kitchens and Jill looked after front of house.
Nick & Aileen met at the Scottish Hotel School at Strathclyde University. They were married in 1987 at which stage Aileen joined the family business. Nick & Aileen have worked tirelessly to raise the standards at the Imperial, talking the hotel from a two to a four star property.
Nick's successes in international wine competitions have led to the Imperial Hotel enjoying a reputation for an excellent wine list as well as superb cooking, in both Cafe Cru and The Terrace.
Nick & Aileen continue to have very active roles in the day-to-day business. They have two daughters Madeleine who is studying Economics with French at Birmingham University and La Sorboone, Paris, and Heidi, who is at Birmingham University reading History.
As to whether they will join the family business only time will tell.
Not forgetting Sammy the golden Labrador!
